No Limit – 18. No Secret: Gottes ungewöhnlicher Geheimdienst

[0:00] Guten Morgen, lasst uns mit einem Gebet beginnen. Vater, genau jetzt brauchen wir deine Gegenwart. Wir beten, dass du uns aus deinem Wort lehrst, dass du uns mit deinem Heiligen Geist segnest und in alle Wahrheit leitest. Im Namen Jesu, Amen.

[0:55] Unsere Botschaft heute Morgen heißt: Kein Geheimnis – Gott ist ein ungewöhnlicher Geheimdienst. Und wir beginnen in Offenbarung 12, Vers 17. Und der Drache wurde zornig über die Frau und ging hin, Krieg zu führen mit den Übrigen ihrer Nachkommenschaft, welche die Gebote Gottes halten und das Zeugnis Jesu haben. Gottes Volk in der Endzeit wird die Gebote Gottes halten. Sie werden nicht nur den Glauben an Jesus haben, sondern sie werden das Zeugnis Jesu Christi haben.

[1:47] Jetzt fragen wir uns: Was ist das Zeugnis Jesu Christi? Und wir lesen darüber in Offenbarung Kapitel 19, Vers 10: „Deine Brüder, die das Zeugnis Jesu haben.“ Denn das Zeugnis Jesu ist der Geist der Weissagung. Gottes Volk in der Endzeit wird geführt werden durch das Zeugnis Jesu, durch den Geist der Weissagung.

[2:35] Wir werden uns einige der großen Prophezeiungen in der Geschichte anschauen. Wir werden uns vier davon ansehen. Die erste ist die Flut. Gab es eine Prophezeiung über die Flut? Es gab eine, ja. Wir werden uns den Auszug ansehen. Wir werden uns die Prophezeiung über das Kommen des Messias, also das erste Kommen, ansehen. Und wir werden uns auch die Prophezeiung über das Gericht ansehen.

[3:13] Die erste aller dieser ist die Flut. Wie können wir das als eine Prophezeiung ansehen? Naja, es gab einen Mann namens Methuselah. Sein Name war eine Prophezeiung. Henoch gab seinem Sohn den Namen Methuselah, und dieses Wort „Methu“ heißt „er stirbt“, und „Shalach“ heißt „es kommt“. Wir wissen, dass Henoch ein Prophet war, das sagt die Bibel. Und sein Sohn, der Name seines Sohnes und das Leben waren eine Prophezeiung über das Kommen der Flut. Als Methuselah starb, da kam die Flut.

[4:14] Methuselah lebte 969 Jahre. Also gesamt. Als Methuselah 187 Jahre alt war, zeugte er Lamech. Und Lamech bekam einen Sohn namens Noah, als er 182 Jahre alt war. Wenn man diese Zahlen zusammenzählt, also 187 plus 182, dann kriegt man 369. Also war Methuselah 369 Jahre alt, als Noah geboren wurde.

[5:10] Schaut euch an, was die Bibel sagt. Also in 1. Mose 7, Verse 11 steht: „Im 600. Lebensjahr Noahs, im zweiten Monat, am 17. Tag des Monats, an diesem Tag brachen alle Quellen der großen Tiefe auf und die Fenster des Himmels öffneten sich.“ Wie alt war Noah, als die Flut kam? Er war 600 Jahre alt.

[5:46] Wir sehen, wir nehmen diesen Zeitabschnitt. Erinnert euch daran, Methuselah ist 369 Jahre alt, als Noah geboren wird. Wenn wir also diese 600 Jahre zu den 369 Jahren dazuzählen, kommen wir also auf die Zahl 969. Und das ist das Alter des ältesten Mannes der Bibel. Was heißt, was bedeutet, dass das genaue Jahr der Flut? In diesem Jahr starb Methuselah. Und sein Name bedeutet: Wenn er stirbt, dann kommt es. Also genau wie vorhergesagt. Als dieser Mann starb, kam die Flut.

[6:50] Wir haben hier also den Zeitabschnitt und wir haben den Propheten Henoch, der durch seinen Sohn weissagt. Und wir haben am Ende dieses Zeitabschnitts, 969 Jahre später, und da haben wir einen anderen Mann, einen anderen Propheten, der in die Geschichte kommt: Noah. Also, was wir hier erkennen, ist: Wir haben einen Propheten, der darüber prophezeit, und wir haben einen Propheten, der erscheint, um die Erfüllung der Prophetie zu erfahren.

[7:42] Also die erste Frage, die wir uns stellen müssen: Gab es eine Prophezeiung? Gab es ein Gericht am Ende dieser Prophezeiung? Ja, da gab es die Flut. Und Nummer drei: Gab es eine Gemeinschaft der Übrigen? Gab es Übrige, die daraus kamen? Ja, Noah und seine Familie.

[8:10] Schauen wir uns die zweite prophetische Epoche an. Wir sahen die Flut. Jetzt kommen wir zur Zeit des Auszugs. Gott prophezeite Abraham. Er sagte zu Abraham: „Weißt du, dass deine Nachkommen Fremde sein werden in einem Land, das nicht ihres ist, und sie werden sie versklaven und sie werden 400 Jahre dort sein.“

[8:57] Also hat Gott durch Abraham prophezeit, dass die Israeliten in einer Gefangenschaft sein würden für 400 Jahre. Also der Prophet, der es vorausgesagt hat, war Abraham. Wer war der Prophet, der die Prophezeiung erfüllt bekam? Moses. Also Moses, der da war, um die Prophezeiung zu erhalten.

[9:36] Gab es hier eine Prophezeiung? Absolut, ja. Gab es ein Gericht? Was war das Gericht? Die zehn Plagen. Die Plagen. Ja, natürlich. Und Nummer drei: Gab es die Übrigen, die aus Ägypten herausgegangen sind? Ja, es gab sie.

[10:08] Schauen wir uns die dritte prophetische Epoche an. Hier handelt es sich um das Kommen des Messias. Die Bibel prophezeit das genaue Jahr, in dem der Messias getauft würde. Die Bibel prophezeit das genaue Jahr, in dem der Messias gekreuzigt wird. Und es heißt in Daniel 9, Vers 24 und 25: „70 Wochen sind auf deinen Menschen bestimmt.“ Und dann sagt es uns: „Unter dem Prinzen, dem Messias, dem Prinzen, werden sieben Wochen sein.“

[11:01] Also hat die Bibel gesagt, Gott hat Daniel erzählt, er hat ihm gesagt: „In 483 Jahren wird der Messias kommen.“ Also Daniel war derjenige, der die Prophezeiung vorgab. Aber wer war der Prophet, der kam, um die Erfüllung der Prophezeiung zu sehen? Wer kam und taufte Jesus als den Messias? Also Daniel gab die Prophezeiung vor, und Johannes der Täufer ist da, um die Erfüllung zu bezeugen.

[12:04] Nun ja, gab es eine Prophezeiung hier? Gab es ein Gericht? Gab es ein Gericht, das auf das jüdische Volk kam? Ja oder nein? Ja. Könnt ihr euch erinnern, als das Evangelium zu den Nationen getragen wurde? Und zweitens, ja, sie verloren ihre Stadt. Aber gab es die Übrigen, die herauskamen? Ja, Jesus warnte sie, dass, wenn Jerusalem umrundet ist von fremden Nationen, sie in die Berge flüchten sollten. Also flohen sie, und die Christen waren von der Zerstörung geschützt.

[13:04] Man kann noch mehrere Prophezeiungen ansehen, die ähnlich sind. Aber die vierte, die wir uns anschauen, ist die Botschaft des Gerichts in Daniel. Wir können davon lesen in Daniel Kapitel 8, Vers 14: „Bis zu 2300 Abenden und Morgen, dann wird das Heiligtum wieder gerechtfertigt.“ Also diese Prophezeiung haben wir uns während des Seminars schon angesehen. Wir haben also eine 2300-Jahre-Prophezeiung, die geteilt, erzählt wurde von Daniel.

[13:56] Und wenn man in die Zukunft springt, zu der Prophezeiung, dann sehen wir, wir kommen an in dem Jahr 1844. Also die Prophezeiung sagt, das Gericht wird beginnen 1844 für den Planeten Erde. Daniel erzählte von der Prophezeiung. Würde es hier einen Propheten geben, der die Prophezeiung erhält oder erfüllt im Jahre 1844?

[14:38] Das ist eine sehr gute Frage. Wir werden darauf zurückkommen. Einige der Inhalte dieser Botschaft ist Nummer eins: Es würde eine Prophezeiung geben. Okay, also was wir tun werden, ist, dass wir zurückkommen zu diesem: Gab es einen Propheten, der 1844 kam? Aber wir müssen auch fragen: Wie können wir den Propheten testen? Was wurden Propheten benutzt?

[15:21] Die Bibel sagt in Amos 3, Vers 7: Gott sagt: „Der Herr tut nichts, es sei denn, dass er sein Geheimnis seinen Knechten, den Propheten, enthüllt hat.“ Ein Prophet ist der Redner Gottes. Gott teilt Botschaften mit den Propheten, und der Prophet teilt diese Botschaft mit allen um ihn herum. Das ist, wie wir die Bibel erhielten. Gott teilt seine Botschaft mit den Propheten, sie teilen es, viele von ihnen schreiben es nieder, und wir können einen Propheten prüfen, um zu sehen, ob sie die Wahrheit sprechen.

[16:19] Eine der Wege, wie wir das machen können, ist in Matthäus 7, Vers 15: Es sagt: „Bewahrt euch vor falschen Propheten.“ Wenn Jesus nicht wollte, dass wir keinen Propheten folgen, hätte er gesagt: „Bewahrt euch vor den Propheten.“ Aber er hat das nicht gesagt. Er sagt: „Bewahrt euch vor den falschen Propheten, die in Schafskleidern zu euch kommen, inwendig sind sie aber reißende Wölfe.“

[17:08] Also gab es Propheten. Also waren alle Propheten Männer? Nimmt nicht mein Wort dafür. Apostelgeschichte 21, Verse 8 und 9 erzählen uns: „Und am nächsten Tag sind wir, die von Paulus' Familie waren, verlassen und kamen zu Cäsarea, und wir sind in das Haus von Philipp, dem Evangelisten, welcher einer der Sieben war, und haben mit ihm gesessen. Und der gleiche Mann hatte vier Töchter, die Jungfrauen waren, die auch prophezeiten.“

[19:18] Haben wir also ein Beispiel von weiblichen Propheten? Ja oder nein? Wir haben eins. Ein Prophet nach biblischer Weise kann also ein Mann oder eine Frau sein. Und merkt euch: Was ist das, was wir den Geist der Weissagung nennen? Wir lesen in Offenbarung 12, 17. „Und der Drache wurde zornig über die Frau und ging hin, Krieg zu führen mit den Übrigen ihrer Nachkommenschaft, welche die Gebote Gottes halten und das Zeugnis Jesu haben.“ Was ist das Zeugnis Jesu?

[19:54] Offenbarung 19, 10 sagt uns: „Und ich fiel zu seinen Füßen nieder, ihn anzubeten.“ Das geht hier um einen Engel. Und er sprach zu mir: „Siehe, tu es nicht.“ Er sagte: „Ich bin dein Mitknecht und der deiner Brüder, die das Zeugnis Jesu haben.“ Bete Gott an, denn das Zeugnis Jesu ist der Geist der Weissagung. Das ist eine der Eigenschaften von Gottes wahrer Gemeinde in der Endzeit, dass sie gesegnet sind mit der Gabe der Prophetie.

[19:36] Wir sahen, dass die Prophezeiung uns in das Jahr 1844 bringt. Daniel sagte von der Daniel prophezeite, dass es einen Propheten gibt, der diese Prophezeiung erhält oder erfüllt. Ich glaube, es gab auf jeden Fall einen. Wer war dieser Mensch? Es geht hier um eine Frau mit dem Namen Ellen White. Sie tauchte auf in den Vereinigten Staaten, genau in dieser Epoche, und sie fing an, Visionen zu erhalten. Sie erhielt also Tausende von ihnen. Viele davon erzählten oder prophezeiten die Zukunft des Planeten Erde. Und das Erstaunliche ist, wie man es beobachten kann, wie sich alles nach und nach erfüllt, sogar heute noch in den Tagen, in denen wir leben.

[21:00] Und nur für den Fall, dass ich vergesse, das zu sagen: Für diejenigen von euch, die nie eines dieser Bücher erhielten, für diejenigen von euch, die keine Kopie davon haben, heute, wenn ihr geht, erhaltet ihr ein Buch, das genannt wird „Der Große Kampf“. Auf Deutsch heißt es „Vom Schatten zum Licht“. Diese Aufgabe. Und das Buch spricht von der Geschichte der Christenheit, aber auch davon, was am Ende der Zeit passieren wird. Und ich glaube, es ist eine wundervolle Erfahrung für jeden Einzelnen, das irgendwann mal im Leben zu lesen.

[21:50] Aber Nummer eins: Das solltet ihr nicht akzeptieren, nur weil ich es gesagt habe oder irgendein anderer Mensch. Die Bibel erzählt uns, wir sollen den Propheten prüfen. Also, wie kann man das prüfen? Wir schauen uns einige Wege an, wie man einen Propheten testen kann. Wir schauen uns jetzt einen Überblick an, und kurz danach gehen wir ein bisschen detaillierter an die Sache.

[22:23] Nummer eins: Ein Prophet wird der Bibel nie widersprechen. Also, ich sage euch, es gibt sehr viele, sehr nette Menschen, die sich Mormonen nennen. Sie hatten einen Propheten, der heißt Joseph Smith. Und sie werden dir erzählen, dieser Prophet widerspricht der Bibel. Und dann werden sie dir sagen: „An dieser Stelle ist die Bibel falsch.“ Die Bibel lehrt, dass, wenn, falls ein Prophet der Bibel widerspricht, der Prophet hat dann nicht recht. Und er steht falsch, nicht die Bibel. Ein wahrer Prophet wird immer in Harmonie mit den Lehren der Bibel sprechen.

[23:26] Unser zweiter Test: Er wird das Gesetz ja preisen oder eher hervorheben. Die Prophezeiung, die sie sagen, wird immer hervorheben, solange sie nicht eine gewöhnliche Prophezeiung sind. Nummer vier: Sie werden Menschen immer näher zu Jesus und näher zu Gott führen. Nummer fünf: Sie werden Sünden in Gottes Volk aufzeigen. Wenn ihr jemals das Alte Testament gelesen habt, seht ihr, dass die Propheten das immer und immer und immer wieder tun. Wenn ihr mal das Alte Testament durchgelesen habt, kann man sehen, dass die Propheten das immer und immer und immer wieder taten.

[24:19] Viele Leute werden gern Propheten. Aber die meisten Propheten litten und litten. Wisst ihr, in unserer Sabbatschule lesen wir von Jeremia. Haben Leute, waren sie dankbar für seine Nachricht? An einem Punkt schmissen sie ihn in einen Brunnen. Der Schlamm reichte ihm bis unter seine Arme. Sie waren so wütend auf Jesaja, dass die Geschichte uns erzählt, dass sie ihn in einen Baumstamm gesteckt haben und sie haben ihn in halb geschnitten und sie haben ihn in die Hälfte gesägt. Propheten litten. So oft, wie sie die Sünden in Gottes Volk aufzeigten.

[25:25] Sechstens: Sie werden nichts mit Hexerei, Zauberei oder sowas zu tun haben. Also allgemein mit Spiritismus. Das ist hier falsch geschrieben. Spiritismus, nicht Spirit. Sie würden ein gerechtes Leben führen. Sie würden die Frucht des Geistes haben. Die Bibel sagt uns in 1. Thessalonicher 5, 19-21. Es sagt: „Do not quench or put out the spirit. Do not despise prophesying.“ Then it says: „Test all things and hold fast that which is good.“

[26:16] So the Bible says, if you hear about a prophet, don't just reject them, but test it. If they are not true, put it away. But if it is true, then we are to follow the message. The Bible says in Isaiah 8, 20: „To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.“

[26:56] So if you had a prophet who contradicted God's law, they are a prophet, they are a false prophet. You understand? So if they contradict the law of God, they are false prophets. So number one, a prophet will never contradict God's word or his law.

[27:28] What do we read from the writings of Ellen White? She tells us: „I recommend to you, dear reader, the word of God as the rule of your faith and practice.“ Ellen White, time and time again, lifted up the Bible. Because the Bible is the standard for truth. In this seminar you've been coming to, what have we been studying from? We've been studying the Bible. We have not studied Ellen White's writings through this seminar. The foundation of the Adventist message is the Bible. But God gave light in the last days to benefit humanity. She goes on to say: „By that word, by the Bible, you are to be judged.“ God's word is the standard.

[28:46] We go on to Isaiah chapter 42. Our next point of testing a prophet. It says: „The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness sake, he will magnify the law and he will make it honorable.“ So our next point is that a prophet will magnify or uplift the law of God. And we see here in Ellen White's writings. She said: „It is our work to magnify and exalt the law of God. The truth of God's holy word is to be made manifest. And we are to hold up the scriptures as the rule of life.“

[29:44] We also see here in Deuteronomy 18, 22. Before we read that. We see also that it was at the time of the Holy Spirit that people began to discover, wow, we missed out on one of the Ten Commandments. And as we travel around the world. We see here in Deuteronomy 18, 22. And sometimes just recently I met a pastor who knew about the Sabbath. His church was still keeping Sunday. But he himself was beginning to realize that God's Sabbath is his true day. And we see now, we go on to Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 22.

[31:02] It says: „When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not follow nor come to pass, if the thing does not follow nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.“ So a prophet is to always, number three, have their prophecies come to pass. So if they foretell something, it will come to pass if they are a true prophet.

[31:48] Did Ellen White foretell the future? Many times she did. Some are coming to pass today. And others came to pass during the days that she lived. One example of during her lifetime, in the year 1902, Ellen White warned that the city of San Francisco and Oakland would be visited by the Lord because they were becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah. What's interesting is Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities filled with a certain kind of sin. Yes or no? They were. And what's interesting is that very same sin has become massive in the city of San Francisco and Oakland. And in 1902 she says they were going to be visited with judgments.

[33:02] And here we read just a few years later in the Boston Post: „Fires and earthquakes follow the Holy Spirit.“ And the Holy Spirit is the Lord. And here we read in the Boston Post: „Fires and earthquakes follow the Holy Spirit. The heart of the city is in ruins. Sections of San Francisco have been wiped out with a hundred million dollars damage. Thousands dead and injured while flames still rage.“ This happened exactly as she had said.

[33:52] You know, it's interesting, but much of her writings that came before their time have not only to do with prophecy, but she also told us many health principles that the popular science didn't really know about. She said this in 1905. She says: „People are continually eating flesh that is filled with tuberculosis and cancerous germs. Tuberculosis, cancer and other fatal diseases are thus communicated.“ So she talked about these viruses causing things like cancer. And it wasn't until later on, maybe in the 1950s, where science fully discovered this. Dr. Wendell Stanley said: „Viruses are an activating factor in cancer.“

[35:18] Now Ellen White said in 1864 that tobacco is a poison of the most deceitful and malignant kind. You might be thinking, duh, we all know that. But back in her day, if you came down with a lung problem, your doctor might prescribe to you some cigarettes. I don't know, maybe they thought you could burn that stuff out of you. This was a time of great darkness for the scientific community. And it wasn't until the year 1957 that the American Heart Association concluded that smoking was a causative factor in lung cancer. That the American Heart Association concluded that smoking was a causative factor in lung cancer. She told us this nearly a hundred years before it came out in the modern science.

[36:48] Now we're going to read something from a doctor by the name of Clive McKay, who comes from one of the greatest universities in the United States that deals with nutrition. Now this man is not a Seventh-day Adventist. But Dr. Clive McKay said this: „Her basic concepts about the relation between diet and health have been verified to an unusual degree by scientific advances in the last decades. In spite of the fact that the works of Mrs. White were written long before the advent of modern scientific nutrition, no overall better guide is available today.“

[37:56] This man is not coming from a religious perspective. He's just coming from a scientific perspective, saying that Ellen White's health principles are the greatest available guide for today. Now he said this in 1959. But I believe it's still true today. Because did you know that the people who follow her principles on health are the longest living people on planet Earth today?

[38:50] You may be thinking, maybe she was a doctor. Maybe a scientist. Actually, she only had three years of education as a child. How did she know all these things? I believe, just as Moses did not know all the science behind the health principles he was given, but he received the message from God. So too with Ellen White.

[39:32] I'm going to show you a video clip now talking about the longest living people in the world.

[39:48] They are an inspiration and a mystery. One of the most fascinating slices we think of the world's population. People who live to be 100 years or older and yet remain healthy, even vigorous. They're clearly doing something right. But what exactly? Researchers are slowly beginning to unravel why this elite group is off the charts when it comes not just to aging, but aging well, extraordinarily well. National Geographic devotes its cover story this month to the secrets of living longer. The issue is now on newsstands and Dan Buettner, who wrote the story, will be joining us later to answer your calls and your emails. He visited three corners of the world where people live the longest to find out exactly what they're doing and what lessons they have to teach us. Tonight we'll take you around the globe, retracing Dan's path. Along the way you'll meet some remarkable people. We're pretty sure they'll change everything you thought you knew about what it means to be old, very old. We begin in Loma Linda, California, of all places, home to some of the heartiest people in the United States. Here's CNN's Gary Tuchman.

[40:44] So how is this 101-year-old woman maintain this amazing mental and physical condition? In true righteousness and holiness. Marge Jutton believes faith has much to do with it. Seventh-day Adventist. What then shall we say, brothers? The Adventists, Christians who observe the Sabbath on Saturday, the seventh day of the week, preach good health. An Adventist is not supposed to drink, smoke or eat many types of meat. Many Adventists don't eat any meat at all and refrain from coffee and soft drinks. Our bodies are an important part of what it means to be children of God. We only have one while we're here. When you are satisfied with what you're doing, you can relax and you can get a night's sleep. But if you're doing things that you shouldn't be doing, you lose sleep and you lose strength.

[41:38] There are about 14 million Seventh-day Adventists in the world, and this congregation in Loma Linda is the church's largest. About 40% of the people who live in this city are Seventh-day Adventists. And it appears they live longer than others. A National Institutes of Health study shows Seventh-day Adventists in California live five to eight years longer than other Californians. That's why National Geographic magazine came here for the cover story titled "The Secrets of Living Longer." That religious-based sense of purpose, I think gave them an enthusiasm for life. Something that propelled them into their older years. May your kingdom be established in our praises.

[42:20] The Loma Linda congregation is full of elderly people. So our exercise class is held in the town. I want to beat the retirement system, and the only way to beat it is to keep breathing. Have we had enough? And when you combine one's faith, one's community, along with a good healthy diet and an exercise program together, combined, can result in significant improvement of longevity. Marge Jaton has one other quality that leads to longevity. A good sense of humor. Not only do you not look 101, you don't look 91, you look about 81. Well, keep talking. Marge says it all comes back to faith and embracing every day. How does it make you feel that you've reached this age and this shape? You are in such a good shape. I marvel at it.

[43:16] Alright. Now, we look around the world at the longest living people on planet Earth. And it happens to be that they're people who follow the health principles of this woman. And very interesting that these principles today are still just as beneficial. Following, not eating the animals the Bible says to avoid. But to be healthiest, going back to the garden diet, the diet that was given in the very beginning. When I first heard about these things, I thought it was crazy. But then I tried it, and it absolutely changed my life. It has been such a blessing to me. Many people fight it. But they would stop fighting.

[44:42] But let's go on even further. Dr. Florence Stratemeyer was a professor of education at Columbia's Teachers College. Columbia's Teachers College. Now, notice what she said. She said, „Recently the book Education by Ellen White has been brought to my attention.“ And she says it was written about the turn of the century, 1903. She said: „This volume is more than 50 years old, more than 50 years ahead of its time.“ And I was surprised to discover that it was written by a woman with three years of education. This woman gave us the best information on education. Yet she only had three years of it herself.

[45:58] Let's go on to our next point of the prophets. Deuteronomy chapter 13, verse 1 through 4. It says: „If there arise among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass. Where he has spoken to you saying, ‘Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them.’ You shall not listen unto the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God tests you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.“

[47:08] A true prophet will not lead us away from God. But as we read in 1 John 4, verse 3: „And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of antichrist, wherever you have heard that it should come, and even now is already in the world.“ So a true prophet will point people to Christ, and point people to the Heavenly Father. And they will always have their prophecies come to pass. And number four, they will always lead people closer to Jesus.

[48:04] Did Ellen White do that? Absolutely. If anybody's ever had the opportunity to read her book on the life of Christ, it's called "The Desire of Ages." And if you read that book, you will see the beauties of Jesus in a whole new way.

[48:32] But we go on to our next point. Isaiah 58, verse 1, says: „Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet. Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet.“ And proclaim to my people their transgression and to the house of Jacob their sins. Will a prophet point out the sins of God's people? Yes, that's our fifth point. But once again, people don't generally like that.

[49:12] One time there was a man by the name of A.T. Jones. He got up in front of the church on a Saturday morning, and he shared a message that was false. And he shared a message that was false. This was in the United States where A.T. Jones was. Ellen White was visiting Australia at the time. She sent a letter to this man, Jones. She sent the letter a month before. That's how long it took the mail to get from Australia to the United States. He had just spoken this false teaching in front of the church on Saturday. But on Sunday he received his mail. There was a letter in the mail from Ellen White from Australia. And she said: „You should not have preached that message.“ It was sent to him a month before. He found it the day after he had spoken this false teaching. And he received the message because it was clear to him this message was from God.

[51:00] She wrote nine books called the Testimonies. Many of those teachings are pointing out sin. And then pointing people to Jesus Christ as their Savior.

[51:16] Let's go on to our sixth point. It says: „There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, and an observer of the clouds, or a fortune teller or a witch, or a consulter with familiar spirits or wizards, or one who calls to the dead. For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord.“ God said to the Israelites: „Do not be in contact with spirits or wizards. Do not be in contact with spiritualists.“ That is our sixth point. That prophets would not be in communication with so-called dead people.

[52:32] And Ellen White said in the book "The Great Controversy" that many of you will be preserved today. The claim that people can be in connection with evil spirits is considered as a medieval fable. But the spiritism that counts its followers after hundreds of thousands makes its way into scientific circles, which has invaded churches and has found favor in legislative bodies, and even the courts of kings. This mammoth deception is but a revival and a new disguise of old, damned and forbidden witchcraft. And we see spiritualism on the rise today in our world. We even had one of our presidents in the United States, his wife was into these things. This is what she said: „We are to avoid these spiritualistic things.“

[54:08] And our seventh point is that they will bear the fruit of righteousness. Even some of those who fought against Ellen White in her life, when they died, they testified. At least one of them said: „She was a righteous woman.“ She was a woman who took in many people into her home to take care of poor people. She loved animals, and they loved her. She was just simply a special woman. She is the most translated American author. She wrote such a massive quantity of writing, something like 100,000 pages. Very powerful works.

[55:19] But even she herself would talk about what the standard of Christian teachings was. This right here is the standard for Christianity. Her writings point us to the Bible, not away from the Bible, like many false prophets.

[55:50] And friends, I'm not here to tell you to take my word for it. When I first heard this, I didn't take the guy's word for it. I decided I was going to keep reading the Bible. But I too would test it. Many people say all kinds of things. I had a man come to me, and he found a bunch of negative things about Ellen White on the internet. He brought me a stack like this. He said, „What is all this?“ And I said, „Well, let's study it out.“ And so we began to go point by point through what the people were arguing on the internet.

[56:47] The first one said something like this: Ellen White said Jesus would come again in 1857. He didn't come again. She's a false prophet. And so I said, „That's strange. I don't remember reading that.“ But I happen to have the book that they claimed was there, the book that she wrote it in. It was on the shelf in the house that I was in. We grabbed it and we opened it up. We found the page. And we read it. She didn't say anything like that. So the first point was just a lie.

[57:40] Then we said, okay, let's go on to the next argument. The next point was that, they said, they said that Ellen White said the Tower of Babel was before the flood. That contradicts the Bible. And so we thought, did she say that? And so we happen to have the book. So we went to get the book. We grabbed the book and we opened it up. And on that page she talked about the Tower of Babel. She talked about the flood. But she did not say the Tower of Babel was before the flood. Once again, they lied.

[58:39] Then we went on to other ones, and they were just confusion or simple lies. And so ultimately what we ended up doing, we just kept going through them. And it made you begin to think, if she had errors, why didn't they talk about the errors? But remember, if you would have just read these lies on the internet, you would have thought, well, they must be true, unless you tested it for yourself. The Bible says test. The internet is not the test. Checking for yourself what it says is the real test.

[59:40] It doesn't harmonize with scripture. After going through a number of these arguments, the man who brought them to me, he picked them up. He walked over and he threw them in the trash. He went to the other end and threw them in the trash. Why would they lie if they had such good arguments? Because they didn't really have any good arguments. I'm not telling you to trust me, I'm telling you to test.

[1:00:29] Remember, Jesus is our example. The word of God is the standard. And the spirit of prophecy is called the testimony of Jesus. Are you willing to test it?

[1:00:52] Let's close with a word of prayer. Father, we thank you for the Bible, that it's the standard of teaching. This is the book we will be judged by. But I do believe you've given us messages for these last days, not to be set above the Bible, but to point us back to your word. We realize that the health principles have been a blessing to millions. The spiritual message has uplifted even more. We realize the Bible says one of the characteristics of God's last day church is that they'd be given the gift of prophecy. Father, my prayer is number one, that we would read your Bible every single day. But that we would also test the prophets. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
